Weekend in the Windy City

Last weekend, my cousins and I met in Chicago, Illinois to reunite and to say good-bye to one of us as she prepares for a move across the globe to South Korea. We were met with a few days of wonderful weather–sunny with a light breeze–and were told by many locals that this was some of the best weather they’ve had all year. What luck!

I’ve always loved Chicago and had aspirations to move there after college. The architecture there is some of the most beautiful I’ve seen in the States. Luckily, our accommodations were at the Freeland Hotel which was central to downtown and the perfect place to stay to be within walking distance from major attractions. We walked through the Magnificent Mile, visited Millennium Park and leisurely ambled next to the clear blue water on the Lakefront Trail.

Of course, some of the best moments while in the city was the food! Our diet consisted of tapas and wine. Anytime we were feeling peckish, we would just dip into a bistro or restaurant to eat and chat until we were satisfied.

Some of the restaurants we visited included:

Tanta (for happy hour and delicious Peruvian bites; make sure to get drinks on their rooftop bar!)

The Purple Pig (led by James Beard Award Winner Jimmy Bannos Jr; the pappardelle and scallops were my favorite)

Beatrix-Streeterville (delicious breakfast and coffee spread)

Beatnik on the River (the most beautiful and IG-worthy restaurant with views of the river and artful plates)

Eataly (for gourmet Italian groceries and produce and delicious gelato)

Acanto (Italian food and wine)

Our weekend in Chicago was so rejuvenating and could not have been more perfect. I was grateful for the wonderful company, food and opportunity to capture some of our moments on camera!

Till next time….
